Rachel Neylan, one of our sponsored riders, brought to our attention the great efforts of cyclist Sarah Roy, who was raising money through the Leukaemia Foundation 'World's Greatest Shave'. We provided some AV gear for them to wear and a few items for them to auction. Here the blurb from the wonderful Sarah:
'I have come through the National Talent Identification and Development Program for women's cycling, specifically; road time trialling and recently represented Australia on the National Team at the Ladies Tour of Qatar in Febuary this year.
On October 15, 2009 a very close friend of mine lost her battle with Leukaemia at just 26. Before her passing, we had come up with the brilliant idea to raise $10 000 for the Leukaemia Foundation through the World's Greatest Shave, where we would both get bald for the cause together.
Despite Lisa being unable to shave her head with me now, I am going to go ahead with it on my own in her memory.
Although the shave has taken place and I am now BALD, I will continue fundraising until March 31.
